In this tutorial, we shall show you how to install SQLite3 on CentOS 7.
The SQLite file format is stable, cross-platform, and backwards compatible. In contrast to many other database management systems, SQLite is not a client–server database engine. SQLite is the most widely used database engine globally, and there are client libraries available for almost all popular languages.
Step 1 - Keep the server up to date
# yum update -y
Step 2 - Install required package
# yum install wget -y
Step 3 - Install the build tool-chain
# yum groupinstall "Development Tools' -y
Step 4 - Download the Source Code
Create a new directory for SQLite3
# mkdir sqlite3 && cd sqlite3
Navigate to https://www.sqlite.org/download.html and copy the link to the latest autoconf amalgamation source code, which will be named:
Download it using wget command and extract is using tar:
# wget [link to sqlite-autoconf-<version>.tar.gz]
# tar xvfz sqlite-autoconf-<version>.tar.gz
Step 5 - Build & Install SQLite3
# cd sqlite-autoconf-<version>
# make install
Step 3 - Verify the Installation
# sqlite3 --version
